Texas employers in July marked 25 months of consecutive growth, with seasonally adjusted and benchmarked numbers released by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas on Friday showing 13,100 added jobs.
The statewide unemployment rate held steady at 4.0 percent. The national unemployment rate fell slightly, to 3.9 percent from 4 percent in June.
The state has seen 377,100 jobs added for the year, for an annual job growth rate of 3.1 percent, the TWC said, the fastest since February 2015. The Dallas Fed reported a slightly higher growth rate of 3.2 percent.
Statewide, construction was the top industry for job growth with 10,500 added positions, the TWC said, the largest monthly gain since October 2017. Other strong sectors including trade, transportation and utilities with 7,500 added workers, education and health services with 6,400 workers, and leisure and hospitality with 5,700.
