The Texas Historical Commission board voted to award Wise County with a $787,753 planning grant for the restoration of our historic courthouse. This grant will allow us to develop architectural plans, specifications, and construction documents to fully restore this iconic building. It also positions us to then apply in two years for a construction grant when the next grant cycle opens. Of the twelve counties who applied for planning grants, Decatur had the top ranking on the scoring criteria. What a great way to celebrate the 125th anniversary of our courthouse! Wise County: Preserving the past, and building the future!
